Chapter Four: The Greatest Gift My Daddy Ever Gave Me

# The SHE'REE Journal

Some fathers leave behind land.

Some leave behind money.

Mine left me something far more valuable.

He taught me to believe I could do anything.

Daddy grew up during the Depression. He was born when his mother was forty-six years old. By then, most of his brothers and sisters were already grown and raising families of their own. They didn't have much money, but they were rich in something that can't be bought.

They surrounded him with love.

Somehow, in the middle of hard times, he grew up believing there wasn't anything he couldn't do. Later, without even realizing it, he passed that same priceless gift on to me.

Because of him, I never questioned whether I should try something new.

I wrote songs.

I painted.

I taught.

I started businesses.

I dreamed big dreams.

Not because someone promised I wouldn't fail—but because my daddy made me believe I could succeed.

Looking back now, I realize confidence is one of the greatest inheritances a parent can leave a child. Long after the toys are gone and the money is spent, the belief someone placed in you continues to shape every decision you make.

If Daddy could read these words today, I think he'd probably cry.

And so would I.

This chapter is about the greatest gift my daddy ever gave me—and how that gift continues to bless my life every single day.

Thank you for spending a little time in my world.

INSIDE THE STUDIO

Every painting begins long before the first brushstroke touches the canvas.

For me, it began with a father who never told me what I couldn't do. Instead, he encouraged me to try, to learn, and to believe that ordinary people could accomplish extraordinary things through hard work and perseverance.

As I paint today, I often think about the unseen influences behind every piece. The confidence to experiment, to take risks, and to keep creating didn't begin in the studio. It began years ago with a simple gift that continues to shape every painting I create.

The strongest foundations are often the ones no one else can see.

LIFE REFLECTIONS

As we move through life, it's easy to remember the gifts we can hold in our hands. But the gifts that shape us most are often invisible.

A word of encouragement.

A vote of confidence.

Someone who believes in us before we believe in ourselves.

Those moments have the power to change the course of a life.

I've come to realize that the greatest inheritance isn't measured by wealth or possessions. It's found in the values we pass on, the confidence we inspire, and the lives we quietly influence along the way.

If someone believed in you when you needed it most, you've been given a priceless gift.

May we all leave that same gift for someone else.

CONTINUE THE JOURNEY

Thank you for spending a little time with me through this story.

Every painting I create and every story I write is part of a journey that began many years ago with faith, family, encouragement, and a love for creating.
